If you have 50 slots, you can accommodate 50 listeners on your radio stream. Once fifty people are connected, no one else can listen to your radio. However, if someone leaves, one slot becomes available. So if a new listener shows up, they can grab an empty slot.

For radio hosting: Let's say you expect many listeners on Friday night for a big event. Before the show, you can add more slots to your radio. After the event, you can remove the extra slots. You end up controlling your usage and cost.
