The media library is where you store and manage all the audio tracks for your station’s AutoDJ. This article covers uploading, processing, and organizing your tracks.
Upload tracks
Open your station and go to Media Library in the left sidebar.
To upload tracks, either:
- Drag and drop files directly onto the media library page.
- Click the upload area to open a file picker and select files.
You can upload multiple files at once.
Accepted formats
| Format | Extension |
|---|---|
| MP3 | .mp3 |
| M4A / MP4 (AAC) | .m4a, .mp4 |
| FLAC | .flac |
| WAV | .wav |
| OGG Vorbis | .ogg |
| Opus | .opus |
| AIFF | .aiff |
Both CBR and VBR encoded files are accepted. Maximum file size is 500 MB per file.
Tagging during upload
You can apply tags to tracks during the upload process. Tags help you organize and filter your library later when building playlists.
What happens after upload
Each track goes through a processing pipeline before it appears in your library. You’ll see a progress indicator for each file.
Processing steps
- Upload: The file transfers directly from your browser to CloudRadio’s storage.
- Metadata extraction: Title, artist, album, genre, year, BPM, duration, and bitrate are read from the file’s tags.
- Loudness normalization: The track is analyzed and normalized to -14 LUFS with a true peak ceiling of -1 dBTP. This keeps volume consistent across your entire library. See Audio Processing for details.
- Cue point detection: Leading and trailing silence is detected and cue-in/cue-out points are set automatically. This keeps transitions tight.
- Waveform generation: A visual waveform is created for the media library and playlist editors.
- Artwork extraction: Embedded cover art is extracted from the file. If none is found, CloudRadio attempts to find a match using the track’s artist and title.
When processing completes, the track appears in your library ready for use.
Format handling
CloudRadio preserves your audio quality wherever possible:
| Source format | What happens |
|---|---|
| MP3 | Stored as-is. Lossless loudness adjustment (no re-encoding). |
| OGG Vorbis | Stored as-is. |
| M4A (AAC) | Remuxed for streaming compatibility. Codec preserved. |
| WAV, FLAC, AIFF | Transcoded to MP3 at a bitrate matched to source quality (up to 320 kbps). |
CloudRadio never upscales. A 128 kbps source stays at or below 128 kbps. See Bitrates and Codecs for why this matters.
Organize your library
Tags
Tags are the primary way to organize tracks. You can:
- Apply tags during upload.
- Add or edit tags on individual tracks from the media library.
- Filter the library view by tag.
- Use tags when building playlists to include or exclude groups of tracks.
Common tagging approaches:
-
By genre:
rock,jazz,electronic -
By energy:
upbeat,chill,intense -
By time slot:
morning,evening,late-night -
By content type:
music,jingle,sweeper,promo
Metadata editing
Click any track in the library to view and edit its metadata: title, artist, album, genre, and year. These fields appear in your stream metadata and player displays.
Cue points
CloudRadio sets suggested cue-in and cue-out points based on silence detection. You can adjust these manually per track if the automatic detection doesn’t match your preference.
Storage
Your available storage depends on your plan:
| Plan | Storage |
|---|---|
| AutoDJ Addon | 150 GB |
| CloudRadio One | 750 GB |
| Custom | 1,500 GB |
Current storage usage appears in the dashboard and media library. You can free up space by deleting tracks you no longer need.
