CloudRadio stations play music automatically as soon as you upload tracks. There’s no mandatory setup, no schedule to configure first. Upload a few songs and your station is on the air.
This works because CloudRadio uses three automation layers that build on each other. Start with just the first, add the others when you’re ready.
The three layers
Library shuffle
The default mode. CloudRadio picks random tracks from your entire media library and avoids repeating the same track within a recent window.
Library shuffle runs your station from day one with zero configuration.
Weighted rotation
Create playlists and assign each one a rotation level: Light, Medium, or Heavy. When no scheduled event is active, CloudRadio picks from your weighted playlists proportionally based on their relative weights.
Weighted rotation replaces library shuffle. Once you have at least one weighted playlist, all unscheduled playback comes from weighted playlists.
Scheduled events
Place playlists on a weekly calendar with specific days and times. Events can be one-time or recurring (weekly, biweekly, monthly). When a scheduled event is active, it takes over and plays from that playlist.
Priority order
When deciding what to play next, CloudRadio checks in this order:
| Priority | Source | When it plays |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (highest) | Live broadcast | A DJ is connected via the Studio or Guest DJ input. Always takes over. |
| 2 | Scheduled event | Current time falls within a scheduled playlist. |
| 3 | Weighted rotation | No schedule is active, but weighted playlists exist. |
| 4 (default) | Library shuffle | No weighted playlists configured. |
A live connection always wins. When you start broadcasting through the Studio input or a Guest DJ connects, the current automation pauses. When the live connection ends, automation resumes.
Building your automation
Day one: Upload your music. Your station plays on library shuffle immediately.
Add variety: Create playlists and set rotation levels. All unscheduled playback now comes from your weighted playlists.
Program your schedule: Open the calendar and place playlist events at specific times. Between events, your weighted rotation takes over.
