CloudRadio sends email alerts when your stream goes down or starts broadcasting silence, and again when it recovers.
Alert Types
| Alert | When It’s Sent |
|---|---|
| Stream Down | Stream becomes unreachable after 3 consecutive failed checks |
| Stream Recovered | Stream comes back online after being down |
| Dead Air Detected | Stream is broadcasting silence after 3 consecutive detections |
| Dead Air Cleared | Audio resumes after a dead air period |
Alerts are not sent when a stream first starts monitoring (to avoid false positives during initial setup).
Enable Alerts
By default, alerts are off for new monitors. To enable them:
- Go to Monitoring and click on a stream
- In the Notifications section, toggle Notify account holder to receive alerts at your account email
- Optionally, add additional email recipients
Add Notification Recipients
You can send alerts to multiple people (team members, engineers, on-call staff):
- On the stream detail page, go to the Notifications section
- Click Add Email
- Enter the email address
- The recipient must verify their email before they start receiving alerts
Email Verification
New notification emails go through a two-step verification:
- Deliverability check: the email address is validated instantly for deliverability
- Click verification: a verification email is sent with a link that expires in 7 days
The email status shows as Pending until the link is clicked. Only Verified emails receive alerts.
If the verification email doesn’t arrive, you can resend it from the notification settings.
What Alert Emails Contain
Each alert email includes:
- Stream name and URL
- What happened (down, recovered, dead air detected, dead air cleared)
- Error message (if applicable)
- Timestamp
- Link to the monitoring dashboard
