Tags group your tracks: by genre, mood, time of day, or type of audio like jingles and station IDs. You add tags to tracks in the library. The Tags tab is where you manage the tags themselves and the settings that apply to every track carrying them.
Open the Tags tab
Go to Media Library in the left sidebar and click the Tags tab. Each tag shows how many tracks carry it, its Boost, and whether it is Exempt. Search the list or sort it by use or name.
Create or edit a tag
Click Create tag, or the edit button on a tag's row. The form has:
- Name and Color.
- Loudness: Off, Boost, Boost+ or Boost++. Tracks with the tag play about 2, 4 or 6 dB louder, limited by each file's headroom. The file itself is not changed.
- Exempt from separation rules (see below).
- Suppress track metadata (see below).
Click Save (or Create). The settings apply right away to every track with the tag.
A tag marked Generated was created from the genre or year in your files. Its name can't be changed, but you can change its color or delete it.
Exempt from separation rules
Separation rules stop the same track, artist or album from repeating too soon. That is right for music, but station IDs, jingles, sweepers and ads need to repeat often.
Turn on Exempt from separation rules for a tag, and tracks with that tag are always allowed to play, ignoring the track, artist and album separation rules.
Suppress track metadata
Turn on Suppress track metadata for a tag of jingles, station IDs, sweepers or ads. While one of these tracks plays:
- Now Playing keeps showing the song that played before it, until the next real track starts.
- The track stays out of your public song history.
- The track stays out of music royalty reports such as SoundExchange.
Your own statistics still record the play.
Merge or delete tags
Select tags with their checkboxes, then:
- Merge selected: moves the tracks into the tag you name under Merge into tag, and removes the selected tags.
- Delete selected: removes the tags. Your tracks are not deleted, but playlist entries that play a random track from those tags are removed.
Suggestion rules
CloudRadio suggests tags from the genre and year in your files. When it applies, a Suggestion rules card below the list lets you turn on genres it didn't recognize, and allow again the tags you asked it never to suggest.
